The top and optical drive
My plan was to put the DVD at the bottom of the case, but as the build went on it became clear to me that it just would'nt fit. I had to move it to the top. This made the top panel-design a bit more complicated than I first thought.

Of course, two pieces of acrylic would make a good starting point. I used rather large M8 bolts to hold them in place. Looks like pair of Klingon warblades!

The plastic tray for the drive has a small edge in the front, which I will use to hook it onto a piece of aluminium.

Then I added some aluminum sheets to cover the sides of the top on either end of the drive.
And finally a stylish black front for the drive. I used opaque 3mm acrylic, which I bent using a heat gun and some clamps.
